Traditional Access Control
Traditional Access Controls use copper cables that run between access control panels and door controllers and from door controllers to the readers, locks, and other devices at the door. The control panels and door controllers are usually installed in a dedicated security/IT (information technology) room or communications riser. Whether the scale of your business is small or large, Kiska can deliver your expectations for supplying and installing access control systems.
IP-Based Access Control
A Network-IP-Based Access Control System can be customized with a variety of devices from different manufacturers and expanded or upgraded either systemwide or one door, one reader at a time. There are various IP access control products suitable for installations of all sizes.
IP access control significantly boosts upgraded system functions and operations, increasing the level of identity verification, authentication, encryption, and credentialing. When using IP access control, one controller for each door is connected to the local network through a regular network switch. The Power over Ethernet (PoE) supported controller at each door eliminates the need for separate power cables for door equipment like locks and readers. Door controllers are quickly discovered on the network and enrolled, saving installers valuable time during system setup.
The cost of adding an IP-based door controller to the network is much less than the multiple serial connections required when wiring back to a central unit.
